[OSENWORLD] K-Pop Demon Hunters has rewritten Netflix history.
According to Netflix’s official site Tudum on Sept. 17, the animated film had accumulated 314.2 million views as of Sept. 14 — making it the first title in the platform’s history, across both films and series, English and non-English, to surpass 300 million views. The milestone comes just three months after release.
For comparison, previous record-breakers such as Squid Game Season 1 (265.2 million views) and Wednesday Season 1 (252.1 million views) never crossed the 300 million threshold. K-Pop Demon Hunters now stands alone at the top of Netflix’s all-time charts.
Global momentum remains strong. From Sept. 8–14 alone, the film recorded another 22.6 million views, remaining near the top of Netflix’s weekly global charts. After debuting at No. 1 on Netflix’s worldwide film rankings, it has continued to dominate in 18 countries including the U.S., U.K., Japan, and Germany.
The story follows K-pop idols Lumi, Mira, and Joy, who transform into demon-fighting heroes when they step off stage. Blending bold Korean cultural elements with fantasy action, the film instantly captured global audiences. The voice cast includes Ahn Hyo-seop and Lee Byung-hun, while TWICE members Jeongyeon, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung contributed to the soundtrack.
The OST has taken on a life of its own. Performed by the fictional groups “Lion Boyz” and “Huntrix,” the album even entered the Billboard 200 — a rare feat for an animated project. Lead track Golden has ruled the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 for five consecutive weeks and the U.K. Official Singles Chart for six, proving that the fusion of K-pop and animation has extended its grip to the global music market.
Speculation about collaboration with BTS grew after RM and Jungkook were spotted humming the OST during a broadcast, followed by director Maggie Kang’s comment describing the project as “a collaboration with ARMY.” On Spotify, every song from the soundtrack has entered the Global chart, surpassing 3 million daily streams.
By breaking the previously unreachable 300 million view barrier, K-Pop Demon Hunters has become not only Netflix’s biggest global hit but also a cultural landmark — with more records likely still to come.
